Round two: retreatment after relapse

Two pieces of good news: round two is typically shorter and cheaper than round one, and it’s an area where clear aligners genuinely shine.

What retreatment usually looks like

• Limited aligner treatment — 6–12 months for typical front-teeth relapse, often in the $2,500–$5,000 range (see the cost guide).
• Comprehensive treatment — when relapse compounds with bite changes, a full case at standard ranges; the consultation records make the call.
• Sometimes: just retention — very minor shift can occasionally be held where it is with new retainers, if you’re content with it. An honest specialist will offer that option.

Doing it right the second time

Before we start

And an honest word about whether the drift is minor enough to simply hold with new retainers, if you'd be content with that; not every relapse needs retreating, and we'll say so.
